CENSUS
The The International Center for Shroud Studies has long since begun the census of historical-artistic works with a direct connection to the Shroud. The database, which is constantly updated, currently collects over 1,000 objects in numerous nations around the world, in addition to the over 600 finds that make up the collections of the Shroud Museum.
The Shroud heritage covers a period of 8 centuries from the 14th century to the present day and includes numerous types of objects: paintings on canvas, frescoes, engravings, prints, objects for worship, devotional objects, coins and sculptures.
The Centre avails itself of the collaboration of University Institutes and through the Cultores Sindonis ETS Association has stipulated specific agreements with the Polytechnic of Turin and the University of Turin in order to welcome students on curricular internships who make a valuable contribution to the cataloguing project.
The CISS also works for the correct conservation , restoration and full valorization of this important heritage in collaboration with Protection Bodies, Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage Representatives, Museums, Foundations, public and private bodies, collectors.
Any owners of historical-artistic works related to the Shroud can contact the CISS to start a shared study and research path.
